ullards Bar is one of the most beautiful
lakes in California. It was formed by the construction of the New Bullards Bar Dam in the late 1960's. As a man-made lake, it
has relatively few hazards or obstacles, but there are a few to keep in mind while you are on the lake. Like most reservoirs that fill during the winter and spring and draw down during the summer and fall there
can be some sticks and logs floating in the water. Care should be taken on any
reservoir, while piloting a boat, to avoid hitting any floating obstacles. Damage
to the hull, the engine's lower unit, or the propeller may occur. As the water
slowly draws down during the summer months a few islands will appear at different water elevations. It is good boating policy to never cut close to a point on any body of water and Bullards Bar has an ordinance
that specifically prohibits high speed operation within 200 feet of the shoreline. Lastly,
the long arm of the North Fork of the Yuba River is one of the most dramatic and beautiful parts of the lake and we wholeheartedly
recommend that you see it, but as you get close to the headwaters of the river the lake's bottom rises quickly and large rocks
appear suddenly. Piloting a boat, especially one as large as a houseboat in a
narrow channel filled with large boulders and moving water is extremely difficult and could easily lead to damage to the boat's
hull or lower unit. Any damage to the boat is the sole responsibility of
the renter. You are responsible, just as in anything else you do, for any damage you
do to another through your negligence.
enting a boat from EMERALD COVE MARINA, or anywhere else, you are assuming a large
responsibility. When you rent a boat you are buying the use of that boat for
a short period of time, like a day or a week, rather than buying the boat forever, as would be the case if you purchased your
own boat. You are probably renting a boat because you would not use a boat enough
to justify owning one from an economic point of view, or perhaps you are renting one to find out more about what boating is
all about before you make such a large investment. In either case while you are
renting the boat, your responsibilities are almost the same as if you owned the boat for that period of time. If you hit a log or a rock, and break the prop, you will have to pay for it, and you will suffer the inconvenience
of perhaps wasting part of the day waiting to be rescued. You are responsible
for the damage to the boat caused by hitting the rock, even though it was entirely accidental, and there was no way you could
have avoided it. That is one of the normal risks of boating.
e will give you the boat clean and ready
to use, full of gas. You are responsible to return the boat in the condition
it was rented, including the refueling of the boat. Only fuel purchased from Emerald
Cove Marina may be used in an Emerald Cove boat. Due to safety regulations, no fuel may be transported or stored
on any Emerald Cove Marina boat. We keep our boats in very good condition but sometimes problems arise - when something unanticipated
happens to the boat, we would not expect to return any part of the rent because you lost part of the use of the boat. Repairs are effected as soon as possible and we will try in every way possible to
be helpful any way we can. It is our desire that you enjoy renting a boat from us, and that you have a wonderful time
while you are at Bullards Bar, but we cannot give you a money back guarantee to that effect.
ou are not responsible for normal
wear and tear on the boat. Normal wear and tear does not include such things
as burning holes in the upholstery, tearing holes in screens, seriously scratching the side of the boat on a rock or with
your personal boat, or damage to or damage or loss of the boat’s inventory.
You must use reasonable care in driving and using the boat. We are proud
of our fleet of boats and wish to keep them as close to new condition as is possible.
We do not want to charge you for damage to the boat; doing that is the single most embarrassing and painful task that
we have to perform in our marina business; NOBODY WINS! However, if you do damage
the boat or lose any of the equipment, you will pay for the damage or loss. If
you break the prop, or break the lower unit by hitting something, we will do our best to replace or repair the broken part
as quickly as possible so you can continue to enjoy the boat, but we will charge you for that service as we would charge any
boater. If you have any kind of problem with the boat at all, please contact
us as soon as possible. The sooner we know about a problem, the sooner we can take care
of it.
