Camping
Emerald Cove Marina handles the reservations for the U.S. Forest Service campgrounds within the
Bullards Bar Recreation Area.
- Camping
permits may be reserved by calling Emerald Cove Marina at 530.692.3200.
- Camping
permits are required. Anyone camping
without a permit will be cited by the U.S. Forest Service.
The Forest Service
strictly enforces campsite occupancy limits ( # people and # vehicles) and noise ordinances.
One Vehicle Unit is defined as a standard full-size pick-up (approximately
18').
If you do not have a pre-paid reservation,
please contact the marina office before moving into any campsite. You must verify which sites are available, reserve
the site and pick up the camping permit first.

Check-in and Check-out time is 2:00 P.M. daily.

Pre-paid reservations: Camping permits must be picked
up at the Emerald Cove Marina office within 24 hours of your arrival and posted at your site.

Please bring your camping confirmation with you. If you arrive
after hours, you may move into your campsite by posting your confirmation letter and pick up your permit at the marina
in the morning.
- If you are staying in a campground you must occupy the specific site you are
assigned to.
- All vehicles, RVs and trailers must be parked on your campsite driveway or parking area.
- Quiet hours are between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Please be considerate of others.
- Camping longer that 14 consecutive days is not allowed.
Shoreline Camping Permits are available when the water level in the reservoir is at least 15 vertical
feet below the high water line.
- Shoreline campsites may be set up anywhere on the shoreline - at least 25 feet below the tree line.
Please stay out of posted restricted areas.
- Shoreline campers within 300 feet of developed campgrounds may use campground toilet facilities.
By ordinance, all other shoreline campsites require possession of a portable chemical toilet. Rentals are available at
Emerald Cove Marina.
Sanitation
- Please help prevent pollution by keeping garbage, litter and foreign substances out of the lake.
- All garbage must either be deposited in the dumpsters provided (located at launch ramps and vehicle
access campgrounds) or taken with you. Dumping bagged garbage at the
Marina facility is not allowed.
- Shoreline campers are required to have a portable chemical toilet in their possession unless they are
within 300 feet of a developed campground. Floating toilets do not count!
Campfires
- Campfires in campgrounds must be contained in the fire ring.
- Obey any posted fire restrictions. Campfire rules can change at any time during the camping
season.
- Fires may be limited or prohibited at certain times and restrictions may vary from campground to campground
within the Bullards Bar Recreation Area.
- Be sure your fire is completely extinguished before leaving. Never leave a fire unattended.
Keep the fire under control!
Vehicle Operation
- Drivers must obey all traffic signs and speed limits and operate their vehicles in accordance with
posted regulations and all applicable Federal, State and local laws.
- Vehicles must be parked in designated areas only. A copy of the U.S. Forest Service campground
vehicle parking guidelines is posted on the campground information bulletin board for your reference. Vehicle occupancy
information is also available in the vehicle-access campground descriptions.
- Motorized vehicles are not allowed on the trails in the Bullards Bar Recreation Area.
Pets and Animals
- Pets must be restrained or on a leash at all times while in developed recreation areas.
- Please make sure your pets are licensed and vaccinated.
- Pets (except guide or service animals) are not allowed in restrooms or inside the Marina General Store.
Fireworks and Firearms
- Use of fireworks, explosives or firearms is prohibited anywhere within
the Bullards Bar Recreation Area.
When in doubt about a rule, please use courtesy and common sense as your guide. If you have a
problem or question any time during your stay, please ask any member of the Forest Service or Emerald Cove staff for assistance.
