Packing for a houseboat trip is a little different than packing for a hotel or a tent. You are essentially renting a floating cabin! To make sure your trip to Emerald Cove Marina is flawless, we’ve compiled the ultimate checklist.
The “Must-Haves”
- Ice (Lots of it): This is the #1 currency on the lake. Bring more coolers than you think you need.
- Favorite Spices: Our houseboats have kitchens, but they don’t come stocked with your grandma’s secret rib rub. Bring your own salt, pepper, and specialty spices in small containers.
- Hiking Shoes: People forget that Bullards Bar has incredible trails! The Bullards Bar Trail offers 14+ miles of scenic hiking and mountain biking. Don’t get stuck hiking it in flip-flops.
- Music & Games: There is no WiFi in the middle of the lake (that’s the point!). Bring board games, a deck of cards, and downloaded playlists.
- Beach Towels: We provide linens for the beds, but you’ll want big, fluffy towels for swimming.
The “Don’t Bother” List
- Fancy Clothes: The vibe here is “lake casual.” Swimsuits, shorts, and layers for the evening are all you need.
- Firewood (from home): Please buy firewood locally or at the marina to prevent bringing in invasive bugs or diseases.
